More about the Welsh Six Nations and Principality Stadium

Wales faced a challenging 2025 Six Nations campaign, finishing at the bottom of the table and collecting a second successive Wooden Spoon. Despite the tough results, including narrow losses to Italy (22–15), Ireland (27–18), and Scotland (35–29), the team showed glimpses of promise and resilience, particularly from emerging players. The campaign began with a difficult 43–0 match against France—Wales' first scoreless Six Nations game since 2007—and concluded with a high-scoring encounter against England in Cardiff.

The tournament marked a period of transition, with Warren Gatland stepping down as head coach. Matt Sherratt took the reins for the final three matches and will continue as interim coach for the July 2025 tour of Japan. That tour offers an opportunity to reset and regroup, as Wales looks to end a 17-match losing streak. The squad features a blend of seasoned internationals like Taulupe Faletau and Josh Adams, as well as six exciting uncapped players. Dewi Lake has been named captain, signalling a new chapter in Welsh rugby’s evolution ahead of the 2026 Six Nations and the inaugural Nations Cup.

Throughout the highs and lows, one constant has been the Principality Stadium in Cardiff—the iconic heart of Welsh rugby. Since opening in 1999, the 74,500-seat venue has delivered unforgettable matchday experiences with its world-class facilities and signature retractable roof, helping to create one of the most electric atmospheres in world sport. More than just a stadium, it stands as a proud symbol of Welsh identity, unity, and unyielding spirit.
